Valorization of by-products from vegetable oil industries: Enzymes production by Yarrowia lipolytica through solid state fermentation

چکیده

Vegetable oil extraction generates high amounts of by-products, which are designated as cakes. Since the current strategies employed for cakes' reuse linked with some drawbacks, identification alternative approaches to decrease environmental impact and promote a circular economy is vital importance. In general, these materials characterized by fiber content, making them suitable be in solid state fermentation (SSF). Filamentous fungi have been microorganisms mostly applied SSF yeasts were less extent. present work, three by-products from olive, sunflower, rapeseed oils used substrates lipase protease production Yarrowia lipolytica W29. Oil cakes mixtures composition was optimized each enzyme using simplex-centroid design experiments. A 50% (w/w) mixture olive cake (OC) sunflower (SC) led highest production, while combination most maximum production. Both enzymes produced at levels short period 48 h. This work demonstrated that Y. W29 can modulated different combinations substrate mixture. Additionally, potential vegetable industries processes also demonstrated, showing their valorization.

Solid State Fermentation for Production of Chitosan by Aspergillus Niger

The effect of Solid State Fermentation (SSF) on Chitosan production by A. niger was investigated. A. niger BBRC 20004 from Biochemical and Bioenvironmental Research Centre of Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran), was grown on corn residue. Chitosan was extracted from the fungal mycelia using hot alkaline and acid treatment. A. niger was incubated for 12 days on corn residue with moist...

Xylanase Production under Solid State Fermentation by Aspergillus niger

Central composite orthogonal design was applied to quantify relations  of xylanase production, loss of dry matter and change of pH with four critical variables during solid state fermentation of a mixture of wheat bran and wheat straw on which Aspergillus niger CCUG 33991 was cultivated. The studied variables included the percentage of wheat straw, temperature, moisture content, and fermentati...

Immobilization of Yarrowia lipolytica for aroma production from castor oil.

The main aim of this study was to compare different materials for Y. lipolytica immobilization that could be used in the production of γ-decalactone (a peach-like aroma) in order to prevent the toxic effect both of the substrate and the aroma upon the cells. Therefore, cells adsorption onto pieces of methyl polymethacrylate and of DupUM(®) was studied and further used in the biotransformation o...

Oil Production from Yarrowia lipolytica Po1g Using Rice Bran Hydrolysate

The purpose of this study was to produce microbial oil from Yarrowia lipolytica Po1g grown in defatted rice bran hydrolysate. After removing oil from rice bran by Soxhlet extraction, the bran is subjected to acid hydrolysis with various sulfuric acid concentrations (1-4% v/v), reaction times (1-8 h), and reaction temperatures (60-120°C). The optimal conditions for maximum total sugar production...

Fermentation Conditions and Media Optimization for Isocitric Acid Production from Ethanol by Yarrowia lipolytica

Isocitric acid exists in the form of four stereoisomers, of which only the threo-Ds-form (ICA) is a natural active compound, an intermediate of Krebs cycle, and suitable for nutritional and pharmaceutical use. In this paper, we propose a method for ICA production from ethanol by yeast Yarrowia lipolytica. The effects of temperature, pH of the medium, and aeration on the growth of the producer Y...
